Epiphone EJ-200 Kemper Profile – Studio Sound Without Feedback

With this Epiphone EJ-200 Kemper Profile, you get the warm, full, and powerful sound of an Epiphone EJ-200 microphoned in a high-end recording studio directly on the line-out of your own guitar – played through the Fishman Sonitone pickup.

The Unique Selling Point

When playing live, you're usually faced with a choice between two worlds: the full, natural sound of a studio microphone – with the risk of feedback and unpredictable stage acoustics – or the clean, but often thinner signal of a built-in pickup. This Kemper Profile brings both together: the authentic, studio-captured microphone sound of your Epiphone EJ-200, played completely feedback-safe through the line-out.

How the Profile Was Created

For this especially comprehensive profile, the Epiphone EJ-200 was recorded with nine legendary studio microphones known for their exceptional sound:

– AKG C451 (Vintage)
– Shoeps MSTC
– Neumann U89i
– AKG C414 (ULS Vintage)
– T-Bone RB500 (ribbon microphone)
– Sennheiser MKH-40
– Slate ML-1 (in zwei Mikrofonpositionen)
– Shure SM57
– Electro-Voice RE20

The included studio profile blends the character of several of these microphones into a particularly full, balanced sound – complemented by an additional shimmer variant for a floating, airy decay. Recording was done through top-tier studio equipment: Focusrite RED 1 (Series 1 and 2) with Lundahl transformers, Calrec channel strips from the legendary "Polar" console, a UA8000 Ultimate Audio desk, and a Slate VMS One.

What Makes My Process Special

There are probably tens of thousands of Impulse Responses circulating on the market that measure and analyze the frequency curve of an acoustic guitar. Combined with downstream EQs, they're usually meant to make an electric guitar sound like an acoustic one. A question I keep getting asked about this: "Can your profiles make my electric guitar sound like a Taylor, Martin, or Takamine?" No, they can't. Every profile offered here is precisely tailored to the interplay of guitar body, the woods used, and the specific pickup. This fixed foundation is then expanded with the character of a microphone and merged into a single profile through an elaborate process.

The advantage: the profile fits the acoustic guitar like a sonic twin and sounds authentic and real. The downside: this exact precision means a profile can't be universally transferred to other guitars or pickups. That's why we offer a carefully curated selection of profiles – simply because it's impossible to analyze every model available on the market (some no longer even in production). Our goal, though, was still to make the selection broad enough to cover a large share of popular models.

If your guitar doesn't fit any of our descriptions, Custom Profiling can help. In this process, we typically don't use our own microphones, but rather those of the guitar owner. This way, you get a professional 1:1 profile of your own guitar without having to travel to the studio – affordable and hassle-free. Just check out "Custom Profiling," where you'll also find a contact form. Start your professional acoustic sound today.

The Sound

The Epiphone EJ-200 sounds warm, full, and powerful – a character that puts presence and richness front and center, giving the instrument a strong, commanding voice. This exact power, otherwise only achievable with precisely positioned microphones in a top studio, is available to you anytime with this profile – whether recording or performing live, always feedback-safe. Depending on the microphone chosen, the tonal color shifts slightly, but the instrument's fundamental warmth and richness remain consistently preserved – captured down to the finest detail and playable directly through the Fishman Sonitone pickup.

What You Get

This profile set includes a total of 21 Kemper profiles: 10 dry individual profiles from the microphones listed above (including the second Slate ML-1 position), plus the same 10 profiles again fully mixed with effects ("Ready to Play"), as well as an additional studio profile with a shimmer effect. All profiles work immediately with any current Kemper firmware, with no additional configuration required.

Who This Profile Is For

Whether recording in the studio or performing live on stage: this Kemper Profile brings you the warm, powerful Epiphone sound wherever you go, with no worries about microphone placement, room acoustics, or feedback. Ideal for singer-songwriters, fingerstyle guitarists, and anyone who wants to experience a genuine studio-quality acoustic sound live – reliable, reproducible, and ready whenever you are.

Behind the Sound

I've been working professionally in audio since 1991 – as a certified Sound Engineer, advertising sound engineer, recording engineer, live sound technician, and as a composer with gold and platinum awards. This experience from studio, stage, and music production goes into every single profile. Installation couldn't be simpler: load the profiles, select, play. The set works with all Kemper models (Toaster, Rack, Stage, Player), with no known limitations.
